Rooms were SUPER SUPER CLEAN. The owners are such lovely people with wonderful food and of course hospitality. I’ve never felt more at home when I’m away from home. Even though I live in Denver. Beautiful walk down path to the river, gazebo, etc. I can go on about this place… just amazing. Check it out and stay here, all walking distance to downtown, church, and RMNP!!!

We came up to support small businesses in a safe manner, to keep things open. This family owned place is cute, has good food, and good customer service. They adhered to all requirements to stay open and stay safe! Support small businesses that are practice safe operating protocols.

If you are looking for fine dining, this is the place. By the river, great atmosphere, and service is top notch. Not to mention the food is outstanding. All in all great place. They also have a lodge and it is walking distance to downtown Grand Lake.

We have been staying at the Rapids for 30+ years and much better prefer the old upstairs hotel rooms or the 3 cabins for their ambiance. The Restaurant is second to none for food quality and service.

Whenever the monthly newsletter pops up in my email, I always get a warm fuzzy from the memories we made seven years ago at the Historic Rapids Lodge. Our daughter Annie was born in 2011. It wasn’t until August 2012 that my husband and I got any time alone to just be a husband and wife. We were in full new parent mode and very tired from having a new baby in the house. Our friend was very kind to offer to watch our baby, so we randomly picked Grand Lake to get away and landed at The Historic Rapid Lodge. It was such a treat to reconnect in a little mountain town, in a super cute lodge that sits next to a creek and walk hand-in-hand everywhere we wanted to go. I felt like I was living in a dream that weekend. We loved parking the car and not need it until it was time to leave. Now we have two kids and busier than ever. I daydream about going back to the Historic Rapids Lodge and reconnecting again as husband and wife after all these years of parenting. It was so peaceful.

Right behind the lodge is nature at its best and a beautiful lake in walking distance … I absolutely loved it.

Wish I could give 6 Stars so I’ll write a glowing review and stick with the max 5 Stars. Service was spectacular as well as the food. We ordered the elk chops and split. We were assessed a $8 split plate fee but it was well worth it. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. Great experience and I plan on going back. We ate outside next to the river. It was so relaxing hearing the cascading falls and seeing them with mountains in the background. We even saw a hawk dive into the river and grab a fish then fly off. Would highly recommend this for the ambiance and the food.

I absolutely love this place. There are no descriptions that do it justice. Rustic, but comfortable. Great staff. Amazing backdrop. I almost don’t wish to share, because I’m afraid it will be overrun, but everyone should have a chance to stay here. If you are unable to book a stay, at least eat at the restaurant. It is casual elegance and was quite unexpected. Our server, Christina was perfection. She was well versed in the menu and wine list and had a great attention to detail. I am so glad that we chose this destination. I went in not knowing quite what to expect and came away feeling relaxed and overjoyed.

Clean, and reasonable prices for a room with a kitchen and living room. We stayed for 2 nights and really only used the microwave for heating water but it was nice to have the options. Pet-friendly was the reason we booked here. They gave us some treats, little baggies, water bowl and a rug in a small bucket. Our lab loved the treats and the large bowl since she’d been using the travel bowl. They also provided a list and directions for pet friendly trails on their pet policy. Will stay again.
Stay in a River View Condo and the scenic Tonahutu runs right by your patio door. Enjoy al fresco lunch by the river or dinner in the restaurant overlooking the river. Stellar suites, scrumptious meals, unparalleled location
– this truly is a Rocky Mountain treasure.

We stayed at the Rapids while in town for a family wedding. Our group of 14 chose several different types of accommodations (suites, cabins, and condos), and it worked perfectly. Those who wanted more space and full kitchens were in the suites and those who wanted a simpler room chose a condo. The cabins were exactly what we needed for the dog people! We had all 3, so the front yards were a perfect place for our large group to gather. The location can’t be beaten! The staff was super friendly and helpful! The rooms are clean and comfortable! The Rapids is the right choice for your stay in Grand Lake!
The Rapids Restaurant is one of the most amazing places on earth. If you can reserve a riverside table with Tatyana and Max overseeing your visit, I guarantee this is a once in a lifetime. One of the most special places on earth.
