New Year's Eve in Grand Lake

The Town of Grand Lake is situated at the West Entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park and has spectacular scenery, 3 lakes and plenty to do. New Year’s Eve in Grand Lake has always been a spectacular event that people put at the top of their list to attend. Seeing fireworks explode over the frozen lake and turn the snow amazing colors, is something to see. The town is already dressed up in stunning holiday lights and has recently been named one of the “top Authentic small towns in the US”. Enjoy the feel of an old Western town with unique buildings and shops.

The Rapids Lodge still has some rooms over New Year’s Eve so book today. We are located just one ½ block from the end of the main street in town and 2 short blocks to the lakefront. We invite you to enjoy our famous New Year’s Eve dinner and then wander down to enjoy the show (see our restaurant dinner page and scroll to the bottom).

On either side of the big event, enjoy snowmobiling, sledding, ice-fishing, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, sleigh rides and much more. Check out the Grand Lake Trailgroomer’s website for up to date snow conditions. There are Christmas lights set to music up CR 4, a fantastic and fun display, and you might also enjoy the Grand Lake Melodrama “The Ballad of Windy Gap” at our community house!

So call us today for a really special start to 2015.

Winter Holiday Weekends at The Rapids …

Spend holiday weekends at The Rapids this winter! The first public holiday is Martin Luther King Day Weekend (Jan 16+17+18+19) followed by a double celebration for Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day Weekend in February (Feb 13+14+15+16). The Rapids Restaurant has been voted the most Romantic Restaurant in Grand County in the “Best of Grand County” publication by the Sky-Hi News in 2014.

What a great opportunity to take an extended break and play in the snowy mountains of Rocky Mountain National Park. We have great Holiday Weekend Lodging Specials.

Colorado winters bring lots of snow, ideal for winter sports like cross country skiing, snow shoeing and snowmobiling. There are miles of groomed snowmobiling trails and the Grand Lake Trailgroomers website will keep you up to date on conditions. Grand Lake is Colorado’s snowmobiling capital and you can ride right from your room to the trail, even along the main street where all the shops are located.

Colorado weather also brings lots of sunshine and the dry air means it doesn’t feel as cold as the East Coast or Central Plains. T-shirt days in the sunshine are possible. Don’t forget there are hot springs, ice fishing on the three lakes, ice-skating, winter hot air balloon rides, sleigh rides, dog sled rides and all that Rocky Mountain National Park has to offer.
