September 17-21, 2013. Looking for a fun fall getaway? Book your room at the Historic Rapids Lodge and celebrate with us! The Constitution of the United States was signed on September 17th, 1787 and Grand Lake is going to be offering a lot of fun activities.
Patriotic Parade, Constitution Ceremony in Town Park with a keynote speaker, education and fun for the whole family, bingo, bake sales and activities in Town Park, DJ Dance Party at Lake Park and a Forefather’s Fireworks Extravaganza Saturday night!!!
Savor a fabulous dinner at the Rapids Restaurant and then walk just 2 short blocks to the lake and enjoy the fireworks (spectacular reflections on the lake). Don’t forget to tour Grand County for fall color viewing and make sure to listen to the elk bugle in Rocky Mountain National Park.
We have plenty of lodging options and a great “extend your stay” special.
Some of you may have finished up your summer vacations and are beginning to think ahead for the fall. Grand Lake is such a spectacular area to see the gold (and sometimes red) of quaking aspen trees. Drive over Trail Ridge Road, stay over at the Rapids Lodge and then head south for even more stunning scenery. One positive outcome of the “pine beetle kill” is that Aspen trees have popped up all over and made our area even more colorful. Fall weather is usually some of the best of the year with clear skies and sunny days. Don’t forget to go into the Rocky Mountain National Park to listen to the bull elk bugle as they round up their harems for breeding season.
Fall at the Historic Rapids Lodge and Restaurant
Try a River View Condo and enjoy the river and golden aspens right outside your patio or take a pet-friendly cabin and enjoy the Monarch Lake Trail with your pet. The Rapids Lodge offers the most variety out of all the Grand Lake lodging options so we can find the perfect room for you.
Week days offer quieter opportunities to enjoy Grand Lake, Colorado and Grand County.
Summer is always beautiful in Grand Lake and now that July 4th is behind us, relaxation opportunities abound.
Grand Lake has received some very good rains recently and is lush and green with a myriad flowers. Moose stop cars along the roads everyday and elk babies can be seen scampering after their mothers as they arrive in the meadows for their daytime grazing.
Mid-weeks are a great opportunity to explore Rocky Mountain National Park and the three lakes area with out the bustling crowds of weekends when folks come up from the “front range” to escape the heat of lower altitudes. The Rapids Lodge has a great variety of Grand Lake lodging options for last minute bookings Sunday through Thursday: Condominiums that sleep up to 8, great river views, pet-friendly cabins and suites and romantic Lodge Guest Rooms for couples. There is something for everybody.
Kauffman House Grand Lake Colorado
Walk Monarch Lake Trail with your dog or take a boat out on Grand Lake, try your luck at fishing or ride a horse into the Rocky Mountain National Park. The Kauffman House is a great little museum to visit in town and in the evening you can take in a show at the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre. Don’t forget to have lunch at the Rapids Restaurant right by the Tonahutu River or a great dinner prior to the show.
