New Year’s Eve at the Rapids

Welcome 2014 in style in Grand Lake, Colorado! We are one of the most beautiful places to ring in the new year. We still have some openings for accommodation over New Year’s Eve so plan a grand dinner at the Rapids Restaurant and then walk down to the frozen lake edge to watch the midnight fireworks. In the cold mountain air you will be happy to know that you can walk right back to your warm room at the Rapids Lodge in just a few minutes after the show.

This weekend is a great opportunity for a fun getaway before all the craziness of Christmas and New Year’s Eve. In fact a few of the opportunities are likely to get you in the holiday spirit for example:  Friday Dec 13 enjoy “Holiday Family Night” at the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre;  Saturday December 14 the Grand Lake fire department will take kids on fire truck rides with Santa and the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre presents a Christmas Show on Saturday December 14th “Home for the Holidays”. There is lots of great Christmas shopping to be done in town too. Stroll the boardwalk and browse the Grand Lake Art Gallery, the Quilt Shop, Humphreys and Whispering Pine to name just a few. All the stores are easily reached on foot from your room at the Rapids Lodge.

Plan something really special like a moonlit sleigh ride at Winding River Resort. Snuggle under a fir blanket and look up at the stars. This is a great activity for Valentine’s Night too. Enjoy a fireside dinner in the Rapids Restaurant before or afterwards.

Grand Lake is so peaceful and beautiful in the winter and you could see a moose strolling around town with a fluffy fox not far behind!

We still have accommodation availability over New Year’s Eve. Book online anytime.

The Grand Lake Christmas Tree lighting ceremony had a great turn out. Click here to see the stunning photo.
