One of the favorite features of the lodge and restaurant that guest keep tell me they like, the sofa in front of the fireplace. On these crisp fall mornings, it’s nice to sit in front of it and plan the day. You can sit on the sofa or play checkers and just imagine you are in the year 1915.
The Historic Rapids Lodge was built June 12, 1915 by John Lapsley Ish and his family. At that time, the lodge only had running water and baths and electricity came from an “overshot” water wheel in the Tonahutu River.
Ish also built a sawmill on the property from plentiful Lodgepole pine trees.
There is history all over the building. If you would like a tour of the historic lodge in Grand Lake just come in and ask our front desk staff.
We are open every day throughout the fall season. Call or visit or website for more information.
